HIV/AIDS Task Force

The vision of the Malden HIV/AIDS Task Force is to prevent new HIV/AIDS cases in Malden and to assure that HIV-positive individuals have access to early testing and treatment for HIV.

The mission of the Task Force is to improve the quality and availability of HIV knowledge in the city. It also seeks to increase the quality of HIV/AIDS services and resources. These services are available to residents regardless of race, religion, gender or age. Also, services are given regardless of health insurance status or disability.

The Task Force provides public education, prevention and awareness campaigns. These campaigns are done in a way that agrees with the culture and language of the city. The Task Force also trains other partner organizations on providing quality HIV services. The training includes educating the public on the role of harm reduction practices to reduce HIV transmission.

Some other plans of the Task Force are to:

  • Assess the city’s knowledge and perceptions of HIV.
  • Help coordinate efforts to get more funding for its partners to continue providing quality HIV/AIDS services.
  • Help oversee the work of partner organizations to ensure that all the city’s residents have access to quality HIV/AIDS services.
